Will you be writing more of the Night Breed Series?

Yes. The first two books in the series took me over 2 years to complete and although I love the characters, I needed a break. Book 3, featuring Bryce and Lydia, will probably take a year to write so I’m looking to start it sometime in late 2012. I also have plans to write Sabriel’s book as well and one for Jacob. The series isn’t over by any means.

Why are all of your books not in print?

Print books are very time consuming to produce as I do them myself. Formatting takes time and once I have the proof copies, I read the whole book, checking for errors in formatting and layout. It’s very rare I never find anything wrong which means I have to correct the mistakes, re-submit them, order a new proof copy and start the process over. Once the book meets ‘my’ approval, I then make them available for purchase. I do all this when I’m not writing, playing housewife, mom and domestic goddess, which leaves very little time to actually work on print releases. I will get them all in print, it will just take me a little bit of time to do.

Why are some of your books smoking hot and sexy while others are tame as a kitten?

Believe it or not, I get tired of all the sex in books. I also get tired of writing it all the time. There’s only so many ways you can ‘do It’ before it starts to sound repetitive. Each book page has a ‘heat’ rating on it under the cover art so it’s easy to see at a glance how sensual or erotic a book may be. The covers are also a good indicator. I’ve never written ‘behind closed doors’ sex and probably never will. I DO like my love stories to have an intimate scene but whether that scene is hot and spicy or sensual depends on the mood in the story. Check the book pages to see if the book you’re reading is Sultry or Sensual.

Would you allow me to post on your blog?

I’ve not opened my blog up to outside posting but I’m not adverse to it. If you’re an author, then email me and we’ll see if we can come to some agreement about it.

Is Lily Graison your real name?

No. Like many authors, I use a pseudonym (a pen name). When I started writing, my stories weren’t something I wanted my family, my mother, to ever read because of the sexual content so I used a different name. Six years after my first published novel, most of my family knows what I do for a living but I’ve established my author persona as Lily so I see no reason to change that. As far as my real name is concerned, I’ll never tell! *grin*

Do you give away signed book sway?

I haven’t as of yet but I’ve just ordered some things. Once I get them ready to send out, I’ll make a post about them. Stay tuned for that announcement.

Do you plan to continue with the Wicked Series?

I have a vague plot for another story but at this time, I have no plans to write it. I will continue doing the small ficlets, as I enjoy writing them as much as readers enjoy reading them. I have no schedule for them. I write them when inspiration hits…or someone asks for something in particular. *wink*

Why do you write so many genres?

I read almost every genre there is and just like reading, I enjoy writing different genres. I get bored easily and sticking with one genre drives me batty at times. I like being about to explore a supernatural world. coming back to my own, then venturing into the old west for a spell. Variety makes my world exciting. If I had my way, I’d be writing fantasy, sci-fi and Scottish Highlander’s as well!

Do you ever do booksignings?

I haven’t done one yet but some day I would love to. Travel expenses would be my responsibility so choice of venue would limit my ability to travel too far from home, not to mention my family would whither up and die if I wasn't here to take care of them.

Why does it take you so long to write a book?

I’m a panster. For those who don’t know what that is…it means, simply, that I write by the seat of my pants. I don’t plot before sitting down to write. Usually an idea comes to me, characters start filling my head and an opening scene unfolds enough for me to ‘see’ where the story starts. I then sit down, write the opening scene and let the characters drive me forward. When I reach a point I don’t know what happens next, I have to stop, think about it, let the book ‘play in my head’ like a movie reel and go from there. Sometimes the scenes flash easily, others, not so much. Plotting seems so much easier but like a reader, I don’t like being spoiled to the ending of a book. I’m along for the adventure with my characters. When something fantastic happens to them, I’m right there with them, living in that moment. It’s the way I’ve always written and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. It’s the way I work. It’s the way my muse, Benny, speaks to me. It’s the way it will always be.

What do you think of Fanfiction?

Fanfiction is my dirty little secret. I wrote it for 3 years before venturing into original fiction and I would find it rather flattering someone loved my stories enough to write their own stories with my characters/world. My only objection would be if those same people published the work for profit. That is a no-no.

Do you write full time?

Yes. My last public job was 4 years ago. I've always been a stay at home mom so when my kids were old enough to care for themselves, I joined the workforce so I could talk to adults for a change. That business closed when the economy went sour so, I devoted my time to writing instead. I haven't regretted the decision.

How long have you been writing?

I started my first story in 2002, in a spiral notebook, hand-written in pencil. We had a clunky desktop computer then and I would type my stories out one chapter at a time. That first story was 120,000 word masterpiece! Not really but a few people liked it. It was fanfiction, a massive novel staring Buffy and Spike, my one true pairing! 20 stories later, I tried original fiction after a friend suggested it. I loved being able to make stuff up myself so I never looked back. My fanftion is quite embarrassing now that I look back on it but it was a learning experience, one I'm grateful to have had.
