Movie Romances

I followed a link from a website and ended up on YouTube, and like every other time I’m there, I got stuck. For hours. One video leads to another and you have to force yourself away. I did that tonight and after all my clicking, ended up on one of my all time favorite movies. Grease. Why is it a favorite?

Because it’s a classic romance.

Bad boy meets good girl and they fall in love. Circumstances beyond their control force them apart. They go their separate ways, broken hearted. They meet again and peer pressure forces them to act indifferent to what they had. They each have to find a way to ‘change’ a part of themselves to end up back together. They eventually do, all happily ever afters have to end that way, but it’s the journey that drags us in and keeps us rooting for the hero and heroine.

Another favorite (movie) love story of mine is An Affair To Remember. And no, before you ask, I’m not THAT old. LOL This movie was made in 1957 but again, it’s a classic love story. Handsome playboy meets beautiful singer on a cruise and they fall in love BUT they’re both already in relationships. They agree to meet again in six months, after they’ve taken care of their other affairs, but an accident prevents the heroine from meeting him. The hero thinks she doesn’t love him anymore. The heroine thinks he won’t want her now and decides he’s better off without her. After finally finding each other later, they realize their lives are better with each other, despite the hardships. Love conquers all and they get their HEA.

My movie romance list goes one. The Notebook, The Lake House, Pride and Prejudice, The Count of Monte Cristo, Kate and Leopold, The Last of the Mohicans, Titanic, The Princess Bride…. I’ll stop there. I could go on forever but in all of these I find myself rooting for the hero and heroine, through their pain and heartache. Its what makes a great love story. If there weren’t obstacles to endure, the ride wouldn’t be half as appealing.

What are you’re favorite movie romances? Maybe you’ve seen one I haven’t. Or at least one I haven’t seen in a while.

The Calling - Paranormal Romance The Calling

In a world where the supernatural isn’t supposed to exist, one woman comes face to face with the monsters and fights to survive their call.

Book One in the Night Breeds Series.

Investigative reporter Rayna Ford is sent to the small community of Wolf’s Creek to write an expose on a town supposedly over run with werewolves. Assuming the inhabitants to be under a mass delusion, she learns quickly that all isn’t as it seems. Their plans involve more than a newspaper article and her life hangs in the balance as their motive for luring her to them is revealed.

Garrett Kincaid knows a thing or two about werewolves. He is one. After leaving his pack, he’s spent the last twelve years pretending to be something he isn’t. His closely guarded secret threatens to destroy him when he meets Rayna Ford, the woman his wolf has claimed as his own. When he learns the pack has lured Rayna to them in order to get to him, he races to Wolf’s Creek to protect her from the very thing he fears the most. Himself.

The power struggle within the pack becomes clear once Garrett reaches his old home and learns of the pack’s plans for Rayna. The beast lurking beneath his skin is torn between protecting the woman he wants to call mate and keeping the balance within the pack on neutral ground. The Calling ARC contest winners

Is everyone as excited about tomorrow’s release of THE CALLING as I am? This is the first original paranormal I’ve written and I can’t wait to see what everyone thinks! I’m almost finished with the first draft of the sequel, THE GATHERING, and then it’s on to book 3 of this series.

I have the winners of our ARC contest. I held 3 separate contests for this. One on Alinar’s yahoo group, one on the Lily Graison yahoo group, and one on my Blog. We had a ton of entries and the notes some of you sent along with your entries really made my day! I’m thrilled you’re eager to read this one. Now, on to our winners!

The Blog contest winner is “Sherry” who gave me a very good description of what ‘her’ version of a demon would look like. I agree with her, by the way. The mental image is yummy!

For the yahoo groups, our winners are, “Jennifer Z. from Arizona” and “Jackie H. from Florida.” I’ll email you all shortly with your Advance copies of THE CALLING.

Thank you to everyone who entered! Look for the book tomorrow on Alinar Publishing and Fictionwise.com on Monday!

If you haven’t checked out the long excerpt for this, head over to my Website for your sneak peek!

Bloody Dreams

I had another nightmare about werewolves! I finally got some sleep last night and wouldn’t you know it, I spent the night running. Ever since I’ve started writing The Calling, my dreams have taken on an odd twist. Not that they weren’t odd before but I rarely have nightmares. Now, I find myself waking tired. You would be too if you spent the night running for your life! LOL My husband thinks I’ve gone over the deep end when I tell him about my dreams. I guess I would too if someone told me stories of blood and gore at breakfast.

The worst part of the dreams are… I’m such a GIRL in them! LOL I run through the woods, screaming like a banshee, and end up in some life or death situation with some snarling, hungry thing that I just KNOW wants to have me for lunch and I end up turning into some sniveling snot-bag. Why can’t I be a kick-ass heroine in my dreams instead of the simpering little thing that always dies after the first act?

I guess the werewolf dreams aren’t too bad. It DOES give me new ideas for my stories. At least I’m not dreaming of burying bodies now. That was last month. Of course, my husband wasn’t amused about those either, especially when I told him I had him helping me (in the dream) to dispose of nameless corpses. LOL

He thinks there’s something seriously wrong with me. He’ll be carting me off to therapy soon. I’m sure of it!

Blah…

I’m procrastinating again. I tend to do that quite often as of late. Pre-book release jitters, maybe? Of course, when a book is finally released, I tend to procrastinate then, too. And after I finish writing one. I don’t really ‘need’ a reason, apparently. LOL My muse is just lazy. (muse = me, but I call HIM Benny!)

I’m 38 pages into The Sequel now. I think its garbage, though. I sent it off to one of my test readers to be sure. Still waiting to hear from her. As soon as she tells me something, I may be able to move on. Or maybe not. It’s IS the weekend, which means I can relax and play if I want. Plus, my husband is at work tonight so it’s just me and the dog and he isn’t in a talking mood at the moment.

Maybe I need music. I have ‘7 Days Away’ lined up on my iTunes player for this werewolf book. It worked with the first novel and for most of the Wicked books. Maybe I’ll dig around through the 1,000’s of songs I have and see if I’m inspired. Got any rec’s for good, paranormal sounding songs? I can listen to anything so suggest anything you like. Chances are, I already have it downloaded!
