Writer Wednesday

I’m still editing. I can’t believe it’s taking me this long and for once, it’s not me procrastinating. If anyone reads my Facebook page, you’ll know I suffer from headaches more often than not. This week was no exception, only this time, that nagging headache turned into a full blown migraine that laid me out for two days. I always ‘listen’ to my stories when I edit and after printing THE OUTLAW out, plugging in my headphones and turning on the read aloud feature, my ever present headache got worse. I ignored it as usual but 2 hours in and I couldn’t ignore it any longer. The light was hurting my eyes and I was shielding my face from the desk lamp. I had to stop at that point. It was useless to try and go one. That was two days ago and I’ve yet to get back to the story and listen to the last half. After crawling out of the bed and taking enough meds to enable me to ‘see’ again, I was able to get some blog posts done and get cracking on scheduling some blog tour dates. My first ever ‘Blog Tour’ will be kicked off on release day, March 12th! I’m a bit excited, and nervous, and all those other crazy emotions one gets when they jump out of their comfort zone but I know it’ll be a lot of fun. It will be a short tour but lots of goodies will be on hand and I have some new book swag to go with The Outlaw and I can’t wait to show everyone! You’re going to love it. Other than editing and making blog posts, my muse has been whispering. I left my Gambler up to his elbows in bath water. Not that he’s complaining, seeing how his heroine was … Keep Reading!

Tuesday Tales :: Book Recommendations

I thought I’d mix it up a bit here on the blog and instead of talking about my books every week, I’ll be bringing you other authors books as well. I actually saw this idea over at Anna Kathryn’s blog as part of her Saturday Salacious Suggestions. Since I started to write my new Willow Creek Series, I haven’t had much time to read and I love getting lost in new worlds and adventures but finding those adventures isn’t very easy when there are literally thousands of books out there. So, on Tuesdays, I’ll be giving you book recs…of MY favorite books but, there’s a twist…. In the comments, I’m going to let other authors Rec their OWN books to you so, if you’re a author, and would like to suggest one of your books to my readers, look to the bottom of this page for the rules. But first…my Book rec for today. Author: C.L. WilsonTitle: Lord of the Fading Lands (Tairen Soul #1) Blurb:Once he had scorched the world. Once he had driven back overwhelming darkness. Now an ancient, familiar evil is regaining its strength, and a new voice beckons him–more compelling, more seductive, more maddening than any before. As the power of his most bitter enemy grows and ancient alliances crumble, the wildness in his blood will not be denied. The tairen must claim his truemate and embrace the destiny woven for him in the mists of time. Writer Wednesday #4

The past week hasn’t been very productive. Not in terms of ‘writing’ they haven’t. I’m editing The Outlaw and I’ll be the first to say, I loathe it! I always have. The hardest part of writing a book is writing it and once I’ve done that, my muse is ready to move on to the next story. So am I, so having to stop writing to go over a manuscript, line by line, looking at every word, every sentence, every comma…it just sucks the life out of me. I haven’t devoted every hour of my day to it and I’m probably farther behind on the task than I should be. But I really can’t help it. Have I mentioned how much I dislike editing? I have made it half way through a print book, proofing it for final approval. I haven’t found much wrong in it, thankfully, so once I get to The End, I’ll just have a few changes to make and it can go live. Of course, I have two more to proof after that, one of which is nearly 400 pages. So, my week in a nutshell: Editing. Proofing. Procrastinating. Have a good week, everyone! I’ll be over here pouting while I edit this book. Until next time,Lily All material &copy2005-2012 to Lily Graison

Tuesday Teaser – Something Old, Something New – Contemporary Romance book

I’ve something a bit different today for our Tuesday Teaser. This story was originally part of Whiskey Creek Press’ “Torrid Teasers” line way back in 2007, which were erotic stories under 8,000 words. Since the story is no longer under contract, I’m offering it FREE on my website and I thought I’d post a teaser for those who haven’t read it yet. It’s perfect for today as the story takes place on Valentines Day! (WARNING! This is straight up erotica, people. The subject matter also deals with infidelity and not everyone’s cup of tea so, you’ve been warned!) Elizabeth Collins is determined to get out of the small town she grew up in and marrying David will make those dreams a reality. But when her oldest, dearest friend, who just happens to be the man who has set her nights on fire with passion unlike anything she’s ever felt, seduces her only minutes before she says “I Do,” doubt plagues her mind and forces her to imagine what life without him, and his sensual touch, would mean. Jason Lowery has one chance left. He won’t let Liz go without a fight and he’s determined to show her how good they can be together, if she’d just stop being so pig-headed about it. He’ll prove to her he’s the only man she’s meant to be with one way or another. Excerpt “Why him, Liz?” Jason finally asked, his voice laced with bitterness. “Is it because I don’t have his money? Wealth won’t make you happy.” “And you can?” she asked sarcastically. “You’re just an ignorant farm boy, Jason. You don’t know anything about what it takes to make me happy.” “You’re not in love with him.” “And how do you know that?” she snapped. He stared at her reflection, meeting her gaze with deep longing. “Because…I can … Keep Reading!

Six Sentence Sunday – The Outlaw – Historical Western Romance book

This week’s 6, again, comes from my upcoming Historical Western Romance, THE OUTLAW which is due for release on March 12th! “Where did you learn to do such a sinful thing as that, Colt Avery?” A small chuckle escaped him as he lifted his hand to push her hair away from her face. “You’ll hate me if I tell ya.” “I think I hate you for evening knowing. Those whores down at the saloon teach you such a perversion?” He lifted an eyebrow and grinned, her hatred of those whores growing when she realized they too had been on the receiving end of his wicked tongue. Friday 56 :: Knights by Linda Lael Miller

This weeks 56 comes from the book Knights by Linda Lael Miller. One of the rare sub-genres she’s written over the years as she mainly writes westerns. Others may have taken that last remark for presumption, under the circumstances, but Gloriana received it with warmth. The girl was far from home, in a strange country, and of a timid countenance, clearly anxious and frightened. To spurn her offer of friendship would be cruel, to blame her for invoking Kenbrook’s lust, unfair. About the Friday 56 Grab the book nearest you. Right now Turn to page 56. Find the fifth sentence.
