Tuesday Teaser #19 – That First Christmas – Contemporary Romance

Since Christmas is fast approaching I thought I’d give a few glimpses into the Holiday stories I wrote for Tuesday Teaser. This week I have That First Christmas.     Excerpt Travis heard the shower turn off and felt instantly nervous. It was silly really. He hadn’t been nervous around a woman in years. He certainly hadn’t went out of his way to impress one either, but here he was, standing in his living room staring at the first Christmas tree he’d ever bothered to cut. It was a great tree, though. He’d found it on the ridge, sitting off to itself. It wasn’t overly large but neither was his cabin. Anything bigger and they wouldn’t have managed with the thing in the room. He looked to the bathroom and turned, shrugging off his coat and hanging it on the peg by the door when he heard her humming behind the closed door. It opened a second later and he could only stare when she walked out. Her hair was pulled up high on her head, held in place by what looked to be pencils. A few tendrils dangled down her back and rested on the only thing she wore. A very short towel. It was barely decent. Water glistened on her ivory skin and all the blood in his body rushed south when she walked to the bed, turned her back to him and dropped the towel. Her perfect heart shaped bottom met his gaze and he must have made a sound because she turned suddenly, flashing him a quick peek at pert breasts, and lower things, before she gasped, grabbed the dropped towel from the floor, and quickly covered herself.   That First Christmasby Lily Graison  Meredith Gunter has always been Daddy’s little girl. Excerpt and Giveaway with Guest Author, Kallysten

I’m pleased to welcome back author Kallysten to the blog today. She’s going to share a bit of her brand new book, Bodyguards with us and is offering up a few book swag packs as well. Bodyguards – QuickSilver Codex – Part 1 by Kallysten On the verge of her twentieth birthday, Vivien’s worries are those of a typical young woman: doing well in college, gaining more independence, and maybe managing to show Brad, her classmate and sometimes jogging partner, that she wouldn’t mind taking their burgeoning relationship to a different level. Everything changes in the blink of an eye. Vivien stumbles into a knife fight, watches a man die in front of her, and soon listens, stunned, as Brad and his brother Aedan tell her a story of magic, vampires and a murderous ruler intent on killing a princess in hiding – a tale in which she is the princess and heir to a realm she didn’t know existed. Vivien’s first instinct is to refuse to believe this incredible tale, even if it comes from a man she is attracted to. But when her self-proclaimed bodyguards use magic to take her to a different world, the edges of reality start blurring and Vivien has to figure out who she truly is. Excerpt In her dream, Vivien had run. Now, she remained frozen, unable to move as time flashed before her. It made no sense. None of it did. The dead man, still as a rock, with a knife in his chest, blood soaking into the ground under him. The other one, his knives twirling and gleaming as he attacked Brad. Brad’s very presence on this trail when he had had no way of knowing where she would be. The knife that he, too, handled effortlessly. Or rather, knives. The killing … Keep Reading!

Tuesday Teaser #18 – Blame It On The Mistletoe – Contemporary Romance

Since Christmas is fast approaching I thought I’d give a few glimpses into the Holiday stories I wrote for Tuesday Teaser. This week I have Blame It On The Mistletoe. Excerpt Macy watched him expectantly, as did everyone else, and when he grinned and held up a large clump of mistletoe, laughter spilled across the room. “Where’s my wife at?” Gwen pushed her way through the crowd, leaning up on her tiptoes to accept Greg’s kiss. When they broke apart at last, laughter and cheers echoed off the walls. The mistletoe was hung as it was every year and everyone rushed to make sure they all had a turn under it. Everyone but her. She left the room, walking back to the kitchen. The table was set and the food laid out, waiting for everyone to gather in the dining room. Macy grabbed the washcloth and wiped the already spotless cabinets while the commotion in the other room grew. She heard her mother squeal, her laughter contagious, and she smiled while listening. Their silly little Christmas ritual was one of the many highlights of coming home for the holidays and every year she’d sat and watched until every last person in the room was kissed. Everyone but her. She sighed and dropped the cloth, turning her head when she heard someone behind her. Sean was standing in the doorway. “Let me guess,” she said. “They sent you in here for me?” “For a blonde, you’re rather smart.” “Hey,” she said, laughing. “No dumb blonde jokes from you. I get enough of those as it is.” He grinned and crossed the room, stopping once he reached her and turned, leaning back against the counter. “You should have told me your brothers were going to grill me on their little hunting expedition.” … Keep Reading!

Guest Author – Eden Summers

I have a special treat this week. The lovely Eden Summer’s is here to debut her brand new book, Sneaking A Peek. Help me in welcoming her here to the blog and read about her journey to publication.  Taking the plunge into the great unknown and becoming a writer was so far out of left field that my own subconscious suffered whiplash. I’d never aspired to be an author. In high school I hated English. It bored me to death, so I spent a lot of time looking out the window daydreaming. I’ve always been a dreamer, a hopeless romantic and someone who can simply sit in silence and be entertained by their own thoughts. It wasn’t until I had my first child that I became an avid reader, and a few years later decided to put one of the bazillion story ideas in my head, onto paper. Then things took off at warp speed. I entered an RWA competition a month after I started writing and while waiting for the results I studied the craft. I joined RWA Australia and my brain became bombarded with rules and guidelines I never knew before. “Try to avoid these words – was, had, is, were, really, think, feel, like…” “Learn how to write in deep point-of-view.” “Don’t let your friends be your critique partners.” There was so much to learn and I began to read more critically too. My major problem though, was sticking to one project. I would start a story but become discouraged half way. Suddenly a huge brick wall would plaster itself in front of me and I couldn’t finish what I was writing. It wasn’t until December 2011, that I became completely fed up with starting projects and not finishing them. I was a plotter, I would spend days plotting entire stories that I never … Keep Reading!

Tuesday Teaser – That First Christmas – Contemporary Romance

Since Christmas is fast approaching I thought I’d give a few glimpses into the Holiday stories I wrote for Tuesday Teaser. This week I have That First Christmas. Excerpt “Feeling better?” Meredith turned her head, looking for the owner of the voice. She saw him an instant later, squatting in front of the fireplace, adding wood logs to the slowing growing blaze. “Where am I?” “My cabin,” he said, standing. “Your cabin?” She looked around the room. There were two chairs, a sofa, which she was currently occupying, a table by the left hand wall, and a bed on the wall opposite the only door she could see. One room? She was in a one-room shack with… She glanced at the man standing by the fire and her eyes widened. It was the Adonis from the road and he looked more nervous than she felt. “Why am I here?” she asked, slowly. “You fainted on the road.” “Oh.” “You’ve got a nasty cut on your head but it doesn’t need stitches. I didn’t see anything else wrong. Are you in pain?” Pain? Meredith squinted, doing a mental check and shook her head. “No. Nothing hurts other than my head.” “Good. The cut will heal. You’ll probably have a headache for a while but other than that, you’ll be fine.” He walked across the room and disappeared behind the sofa. She could hear him moving things around and lifted her head to see what he was doing. A small kitchen was directly behind her and another door that was closed. She sat up and that’s when she noticed her clothes. Or rather, her lack of clothes. “Oh my god, I’m naked!” she screamed, lying back down. Her head pounded instantly and she grabbed the blanket draped across her and held it … Keep Reading!
